The Deepings School LED Case Study

The Brief – LED Lighting

The school were awarded the Salix Funding required to proceed with a LED Lighting Project. We were requested to provide an LED solution that required not only energy reduction but also light level improvements in many areas, as well as working with other trades who were replacing ceilings.

Key Targets

  • Reduction of energy usage
  • Improvement of light quality
  • Payback of 5 years or less (for Salix compliance)
  • No disruption to day to day running of school

The Solution

We completed a full lighting survey of the school which enabled us to specify which LED light fittings would reduce energy consumption whilst improving light levels. To enable maximum savings for the school we installed light fittings with daylight harvesting chips in all locations with windows, these fittings will reduce the light output as daylight comes into the classroom and only come up to full power when the sun goes in and the classroom becomes dark. We also used a combination of our smart technology LED sensors in all WC and corridors where possible. Within the main hall we used special dimmable LED panels that enable the staff to reduce and increase light levels depending on the use of the hall.   We completed the installation during the summer holiday so that no disruption was caused to the students or teachers.
