South Yorkshire Housing Association – LED Case Study

The Brief

We were approached by South Yorkshire Housing Association to supply LED lighting to a social housing site at Joseph Road, Sheffield.

The site had a requirement for internal lighting made up of sensor and emergency fittings as well as a range of external lighting, including mains powered bollards.

The Solution

This project allowed us to supply the full range of LED fittings to the client, everything from emergency stairwell fittings to external solar powered bollards.

The installation mainly consisted of 2D LED Bulkhead fittings with sensor or emergency backup . After discussions with the client , it was decided that using our new intelligent sensors would offer the best in terms of performance and cost saving , which contributed to an incredibly fast payback period of 1.5 years.

The site was the first to use our new solar powered LED bollards, offering a fully self-sufficient external lighting solution, feedback from the client has been outstanding as to their performance.

 

“SYHA is always looking for ways to cut energy bills and tackle fuel poverty amongst our customers and improve the energy efficiency of our housing. Working with Procure Direct, we commissioned the upgrade of communal areas at one of our blocks of flats in Sheffield to LED lighting, including daylight and motion sensors. The LEDs are delivering lower running costs when lights are ‘on’due to their higher efficiency, and the sensors further reduce consumption by reducing running time.

Notably, there is a better quality and spread of light throughout the block improving the welfare of our customers. Externally, we have also upgraded our mains powered timer bollards to solar PV powered LED bollards, improving lighting and reducing running costs. Working with Procure Direct was straightforward and stress-free and most importantly, these measures will save our customers money through reduced service charges
