St Francis School LED Case Study

The Brief

We were asked to look at all areas of the school, with the aim of reducing energy consumption and improving light quality. It was requested that there be no disruption to school life, so ideally during school summer holiday. Due to disabilities within the school light levels were very important and all aspects had to be taken into account.

Key Targets

  • Reduction of energy usage
  • Improvement of light quality
  • Payback of 5 years or less (for Salix compliance)
  • No disruption to day to day running of the school
  • Needs of students taken into account

The Solution

We completed a number of site visits during different times of the day. This was to work around the students and their requirements and also to see how the school operated. We decided on a combination of our own design of LED Grill Panel and INVO LED light fittings. We had to take into account how students moved around the school, so time was taken to make sure light fittings were in the correct locations.

We used very few sensors within the school, as it was deemed not the right solution for the students. This meant that we had to use bespoke wattages around the school to make the paybacks work.

We also completed a complete refit of the schools other building “Enterprise House” and converted this also to LED.

The installation took place during the school summer holidays and was handed back to the school clean and tidy before the children returned to school. Installation was swift and problem free and all were more than happy with the end results.
